Virtual Forum: |Barriers Facing Immigrants & Non-English Speakers Navigating The Unemployment System|

Unemployment benefits are a lifeline. But too often, that lifeline is out of reach to immigrants (and non-English speakers) because of the numerous barriers of the unemployment system. Educate yourself at this virtual forum about barriers non-English speakers & immigrants face when navigating the unemployment system in New Mexico! One of NMILC’s own attorneys, Jazmín Irazoqui-Ruiz, will be speaking during the virtual forum. Advocates & workers are urging the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions to address these issues so all families can get the benefits they deserve.

When: Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Where: Zoom/Facebook Live: www.facebook.com/nmcenteronlawandpoverty

Who: Organizers in the Land of Enchantment (Miles, OLE member); NM Asian Family Center (Anh, Tram Tran); New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (Jazmin); New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty (Felipe); El Centro de Igualdad y Derechos (Marian, Hilaria, Alicia)

This one hour virtual forum will address the issues our fellow New Mexicans face. You will also find out why advocates & workers are calling on New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham to address these issues.

If you have questions regarding the virtual forum on October 8, please email: jirazoqui-ruiz@nmilc.org
