Lauryn is a current Public Ally serving as the Asylum and Detention Advocate at NMILC. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Lauryn is a recent graduate from Colorado College where she completed a senior thesis on the crossroads of prison economies in rural towns and the immigration carceral market. In this systemic advocacy role, Lauryn is focusing on fostering community partnerships and assessing county-level needs in the fight towards the abolition of privately owned detention centers. She believes in the power of grassroots movements and works closely with community members to amplify the voices of those impacted by the detention system. Outside of her advocacy work, Lauryn enjoys lifting, running, crafting, and hanging out with her perfect cat, Cow. She envisions a future where equitable access to justice is a reality for all, and she is dedicated to making that vision come to life.
